AUDITION
FALL AUDITIONS
The Kroks have finished our auditions for the year of 2021-2022 and will be holding auditions again in September 2022 for the 2022-2023 school year. We will not be holding Spring Auditions this year. Feel free to reach out to manager@kroks.com with any questions. Below is a brief description of what to expect.
What to expect: Like all a cappella groups on campus, our audition process has two parts - preliminary auditions and callbacks. We know that this might sound a bit scary, but we are hoping that we can calm any of your potential fears by telling you what to expect when you come to audition for our group.
Preliminary Auditions: The preliminary audition is designed to be short and sweet. The whole thing should take about seven minutes, and you will be guided through it all by our trusty music director, Kieran.
-
We will start with some warm-ups to check-in on your voice.
-
Next, we will ask you to do some pitch matching - we'll play a series of notes on the piano and ask you to sing them back to us.
- Then, we'll give you the opportunity to try a completely optional sight-reading selection. Seriously, when we say "completely optional," we mean it. We won't count it against you if you choose to opt out - many of us did just that when we auditioned.
-
To end, we'll ask you to sing us a short solo (approximately one minute) of your choice. Feel free to pick music from any style or genre - we want you to show us your best.
Callbacks: Once our preliminary auditions are complete, we hold our callbacks, in which chosen auditionees are taught excerpts of our repertoire and asked to sing them alongside current members of the group.
Once the final night of callbacks is complete, we pick our newest members and welcome them to the group the following morning.
We hope to see you soon!
